2003 CKR SOLO II RULES -- 3/11/2003
***New rules in red.***

Competitors may enter each event only once (entrant may not enter an event in more than one Car Class).

NOISE CONTROL:

All cars are highly encouraged to have adequate mufflers.  Your car must be quieter than 98dbA measured at 100 feet away at a place where the car is under full throttle at the University of Kentucky Commonwealth Stadium and the Lexington Legends Applebees Park sites.  There are currently no noise restrictions at the EKU site.  However, the absolute maximum noise CKR will tolerate at any event is 103dbA (The SCCA Road Racing Limit) measured at 100 feet away at either of these facilities.  If noise becomes an issue at any of the sites, CKR reserves the right to amend our noise rules at any time with notice posted to the CKR website.

FEES:

SCCA member fees for each event will be $20 per event.  Non-members will be $30 per event.

CLASSES:

CKR will use Open classes as listed in the 2003 Solo II Rule Book.  Ladies Open classes will also be used.  There is no Novice or CKR unique "SpeedFreakz" Class for 2003. There will still be novice walk-through's at each event to help new drivers, but for simplicity and to help new members build up points for the season, we have chosen not to have a novice class for the 2003 season.

FORMULA 125: 100 and 125 cc Karts as listed in the Solo II Rules book are legal in CKR. Minor drivers (under 18) must have a driver’s license (no formula Junior / 5 HP cars).

SINGLE CAR CLASS: A minimum of two cars makes a class. CKR does not use "bumping"; by the close of registration, if only a single entry exists in any class, this entrant will be grouped into a "Single Car Handicap" class to award trophies for that event, judging by the PAX index.  However, year-end points will be awarded for each classed vehicle in their open class (since the definition of the Single Car Class includes cars with no other competitors of the same open class, each entrant will receive 1st place points for their open class.)

YEAR END CHAMPIONSHIP

Only CKR SCCA members in good standing are eligible for the year end Solo II Championship.  Non members may count results from two previously participated events as member entries when they submit their membership application.  An SCCA member of another region can qualify for a CKR year end trophy by joining the CKR as an associate member (membership is $10.00 and like regular membership, a participant may count their two previously participated in points events toward the seasonal year end championship).  A member must run a minimum of three points events in a class to be eligible for year end trophies. Year end trophies are awarded from points accumulated from a member's best four points events in a class.  The number of points earned at each points event is described below.  This is the same point system utilized by the Central Division Championship series:

Points/Event = 100 - [900 x (entrant's time - class winning time)/class winning time]

DNF = 20 points
DSQ = 0 points
Anyone who completes at least one timed run will receive a minimum of 20 points.

Tie breaker is as follows: The winner is the competitor with the highest score of total sum of scored points (not just the best four).  This method favors a competitor's performance at more than just the minimal number of events.
